Manchester Writing: Edmund Gordon
The Manchester Writing School at Manchester Met and the International Anthony Burgess Foundation are delighted to present special guest Edmund Gordon.
Edmund’s authorised biography of Angela Carter, The Invention of Angela Carter, received critical acclaim and was selected as a Book of the Year in The Sunday Times, Daily Telegraph, Guardian, Financial Times, Spectator and Observer. His essays and reviews appear frequently in the London Review of Books and the Times Literary Supplement, as well as in a variety of national newspapers. In 2012 he was a recipient of the annual Royal Society of Literature and Jerwood Charitable Foundation’s award for authors engaged on their first major commissioned works of non-fiction – his Carter biography.
Manchester Writing is a series which explores the techniques authors use and choices they make when writing, and debate issues arising from their work. Edmund will be reading from and talking about his work, in conversation with Adam O’Riordan, and answering questions from the audience. The evening will open with a drinks reception, and copies of The Invention of Angela Carter will be available from Blackwell’s bookstall, with signing after the event.
This event is free, but booking is essential. Book your tickets here.
